Vista Sucks

July 18, 2008 - 2:29am | Posted by Don

So I bought myself a new laptop on Tuesday. The battery on my old one lasts for about 2 minutes, and the thing is 6 years old, so I thought it was time to upgrade. I found an Acer at Best Buy that wasn't completely ugly, and was under $500... SOLD!

Only problem... it comes with Windows Vista. I have very limited experience with Vista... but the little experience I have had with it is bad. Oh well, I'd kind of like to learn a little more about it... so when people ask me how to do shit on their new computers, I might be able to help. So I'm willing to give it another shot

I get home, uninstall all the stupid trial junk Acer puts on it, and install a few programs... Ad-Aware, AVG Anti Virus, AOL Instant Messenger, Firefox, and Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is a program for coding websites... it's the thing that I use 93% of my time on the computer. It's pretty much the only reason I bought the laptop... so I could code outside of my little computer area. Dreamweaver won't start. #$(*@&$@#$. So I uninstall and reinstall it... still nothing. #()@#*$)@#$ again. I start searching, and apparently it works for some people on Vista, but not others. And Adobe says it's not supported on Vista, but here, we'll sell you a $400 upgrade that is compatible. Screw that... I already bought the damn thing just 2 years ago, I ain't buying it again.

So a friend of mine gets me the latest version to try out... I install it, start it, nothing. It doesn't work either! And my Instant Messenger won't start either.

I've been searching and searching online for 48 hours now on this crap... and the only thing that I can find is that Vista sucks

So for those of you who haven't upgraded to Vista... DON'T! This computer will be formatted and UPgraded to XP this weekend, or returned to Best Buy... I haven't decided yet.

Freakin Microsoft...

UPDATE: I found the problem... it was caused by some of the stupid programs that Acer pre-installs on their computers. By installing the stuff I have no need for, everything seems to be working fine now. So I am wiping my Vista slate clean, and giving it a fair chance from this point on. Come on Microsoft... prove me wrong!
