Again!?!?!?
First of all, congratulation to USC, and I have no doubt that they'll be playing in, and most likely winning, the National Championship this year. They looked great. It's not the fact that we lost that bothers me... it's the WAY we lost... AGAIN.
So let's get this straight... third straight year... different players... playing a top ranked team... same result. I saw it best posted on another blog... "The issues go back to 2006. The NFL draft and graduation have changed the players. Same problems, difference players = coaching problems"
Maybe Tressel and his staff just aren't that good at game planning for top tier teams? I mean, the Big Ten overall isn't the strongest conference, but we do have Penn State, Michigan and Wisconsin, which aren't cakewalks. But every time we play a big non-conference opponent, we get flat out embarrassed. Maybe the coaching staff just can't prepare the guys to play with the big boys?
I refuse to believe we're lacking the talent to compete. We've had 1 Heisman winner, 8 first round draft picks, and many other award winners over the last 3 years... so obviously the talent is there. What's missing? Perhaps the coaching just can't match up to the talent?
I dunno... I haven't thought about it a lot, but there's my initial reaction
And now I'm off to watch the Bengals... hopefully avoiding the second massacre in 24 hours.
